John 3:30 He must increase and I must decrease…
I want to tell you all about Delilah. She had a pretty rough background and she’s been at Haven for a while and is happy, healthy and joyful. Today we brought her with us again on an adoption to be what we call the neutral dog… she helps keep the Haven dog calm and with her familiar happy presence and she’s such a happy-go-lucky wonderful dog that she engages the new dogs and helps them interact with their new sibling. She also helps the adoptive family relax because she’s such a sweet silly girl. And then she returns to Haven. We love her deeply but would give anything to give her her own family – a moment that when she goes on an adoption she will STAY. It will be HER time to get that family. We’re believing for this with everything inside of us. Yes, Delilah is deaf. Yes, she’s on daily medication that effectively prevent seizures. Yes, she is kinda big and clumsy sometimes. Yes, she needs sunscreen. Yes, she carries the label American Pitbull Terrier. But she’s so much more. She blesses everyone she meets, she lovingly shepherds other dogs to their forever families and happily returns to console the rest of the pack from the loss of yet another member, coaxing them into a tug of war. She welcomes new dogs and cats to Haven with tail wags and kisses. She’s amazing. She adores children. She’s FANTASTIC with puppies. She’s has gorgeous blue eyes She’s funny. She’s housebroken! She is unconditional love. She even won the Best Bark contest – A DEAF DOG – at Bark for Life. And yet she returns to Haven again… without a family of her own.
Please help change that. Tell people about Delilah, the deaf dog who spent years cooped up alone in a room and retained her joy. She willingly decreases so others may thrive. It’s Delilah’s turn now.
To Delilah’s future family – we KNOW you’re out there- congratulations!!! You’re getting one of the best dogs EVER.
