As y’all know we got pounded by that tornado that ripped through Christian and our neighboring counties. I’ve been out in the communities delivering pet food and we’ve started taking in animals from families affected by the tornadoes.
There’s way more need than we have resources for. Obviously we’re doing our best to expand our intake capabilities and make more space and find more resources and money.
So far, we’ve taken in four cats that need homes. We’ve launched a program called Operation Comfort where we take pet food into the hard hit areas and get it to families that are in need. And we are about to launch Under Our Wings – a Foster program specifically targeting displaced animals from the tornado who have no place to go with the goal of giving them temporary housing until they can be reunited with their families. I already have a family that needs a place for their five indoor cats I just can’t take five more. (I’m at 13)
We’re also looking for places in Hopkinsville that will agree to be a drop site for us. The farm is too remote and we need donations of cat food and litter etc.
Thankfully our farm was spared! It got pretty windy and crazy up here but no damage. It passed a few miles to our North. I did work dispatch that night it was nothing short of horrific.
I’m not sure where y’all live but I really hope none of your friends or family or co-workers were affected by this horrible storm. Please be safe as y’all prepare for Christmas and hold your family a little tighter.
