A couple of weeks ago we welcomed Promise to Haven.
She had been running around probably dumped in a very isolated area in the county for about 3 weeks… I was finally able to make contact and it took me about 20 minutes to catch her. But now that she’s caught oh my goodness what a sweet loving girl!!! And she is a beautiful English Pointer.
Medically we have some hurdles to overcome. Sadly she is heartworm positive, has staph/cellulitis (skin infection) on her tail, left rear leg and muzzle; also has something going on with her back hips and legs especially her rear right knee. She is very underweight. She’s on a mix of specialized foods, receiving laser treatments and antibiotics for the infections… she’s not strong enough to tackle the heartworms yet.
Promise is overjoyed just to have a soft bed to lay in and food to eat and humans to love on her. She’s doing okay with the other dogs especially the older ones but she’s not ready for the young active playful pack…. she’s a little older (the vet estimates between 6-8 years old).
Please keep Promise in your thoughts and prayers!
